My new hobby

This summer I realized that I didn't really have any hobbies or activities I enjoyed... and that needed to change! So, I decided that I would try my hand at photography. I took these with a borrowed Dslr, but am getting one soon so I can learn how to take photos. These were just all taken on the auto setting. You can click on them to see them bigger.

Sweet/Funny things my husband has done/said today

He surprised me with a Chick-fil-a chicken biscuit in bed this morning.

He told me that he thinks the theme song for our life is Tubthumping... except for the "pissing the night away" part... haha

I said "everyone makes mistakes", in which he replied... "everyone has those days." Who knew he knew the lyrics to Miley Cyrus? not me!

Thankful for the chicken and laughs my husband brings me :)

Kimyal people

The Kimyal people receiving the New Testament

This video is about the Kimyal people receiving the New Testament in their language for the first time. It is a very convicting video. I know I do not hunger and thirst for God's Word like these people do. I also am not as grateful and thankful for the gift of His Word like these people. I so often take the Word for granted. I pray God moves in my heart to truly hunger for the Bible and have a thankful, rejoicing heart. Reminds me of some scripture in 2 Timothy about the uses of God's Word and how important it is to share it...

"But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." - 2 Timothy 3:14-17

"I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry."
- 2 Timothy 4:1-5

Let us all immerse ourselves in God's Word, thank God for his Word, and go out and share it with others!

February Prayer Letter

I always forget to post our prayer letters. I don't know the best way to do it yet... I see other people put it right in their post, but I don't know how to do that yet! Here is a link...

Please join me

in praying for one of my good friends. She is on the World Race right now, which is where you minister in a different country for a month for 11 months. She is currently in Australia for month three. Her blog is amazing and has helped open my eyes more to the need around the world for the GOSPEL of JESUS!

She posted a video of pictures from her month in Cambodia, and it broke my heart to see all the faces of children who don't know Jesus. I praise God for Cathy and her team that are talking the gospel to these remote places... to children and their families.

The video also had an amazing song on it that I had never heard... it's called "Hello Sunshine" by Barlow Girl. The lyrics really resonated with me...

In the long road of support raising and just life in general, I always need a reminder to lift my eyes to Jesus.

Health, Wealth, and Prosperity Gospel

• So sometime in December I think, I got into a semi-accident, where we had to pay for someone to get four new tires
• Driving on I20, a huge piece of scrap metal got air after someone ran directly over it and ran into my front bumper...  scratching it all up (blessed it did not get enough air to go through the windshield!)
• A deer ran INTO my car on the way to a friend's house... messing up the alignment on my car and scratching it

Because of the cost of the deer damage, I had to file a claim on my insurance. We have just had to spend a lot of money lately on accidents lately. After each one of the accidents, I was literally so mad. I was mad at God for allowing it to happen, because I know he is in control. I thought God must not love me. I thought, in fact, he must hate me because of the these things that kept happening (so dramatic, I know).

Have you ever gotten an email that says something to the effect of "pray this prayer and God will bless you with something amazing in your life"? I don't like those emails... the mentality is the "health, wealth, and prosperity gospel". It says, basically, that if you do _________(pray, go to church, etc.), God will give you ________ (a new car, new house, good health, job). When in reality, the reason we obey God and spend time with him in prayer, worshipping him at church, and learning more about who he is reading our Bible is because we love God... not because we are trying to win blessings. We see the incredible love God has shown us through sending his son Jesus as a sacrifice for our sins and respond in love and obedience. It's not about us, it's about Jesus. Jesus says that if we love him, we will obey him...

"If you love me, keep my commands." - Jesus, John 14:15


I always thought I never believed the "health, wealth, and prosperity gospel", until God convicted me that I tend to believe just that. By my questioning of God's love for me everytime a trial popped up in my life, it showed my heart was equating God's love with lack of suffering. When in reality, God says in the Bible that we will have trials and will have to suffer...

"Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing."   James 1:2-4

But our suffering will give us character and will be used to sanctify us... making us look more like Jesus. Jesus is really the only blessing we need, and if we know him as our Savior then we can rejoice always.

Unexpected friends

I was running around the track at the RAC (GA Southern's fitness facility), and this new friend was in the middle of the trail waiting on me at the end of my 3rd mile... I relocated him back by the lake where he belongs, and we hung out there for a little while. Maybe I'll run into him again soon!
